Who we are
Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity was founded as the Roald Dahl Foundation in 1991. Since then we have given more than £7 million in funding to help children and young people with serious, rare blood or brain conditions and, until the end of 2008, literacy problems.
Mrs Felicity Dahl, Roald Dahl's widow, founded the charity shortly after Roald's death and during the past 19 years we have supported many thousands of children and young people in the UK living with serious haematological and neurological conditions.

We began in 1991 by creating the first ever Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist post, at Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Since then we have created an additional 45 Roald Dahl Specialist Paediatric Nursing posts in hospitals and charities throughout the UK, caring for young patients with Acquired Brain Injury, Epilepsy or Blood Disorders.

There remains a significant shortage in the UK of specialist nursing and support for children living with these serious medical conditions, and the Roald Dahl Foundation continues to work to meet the growing need. As well as providing nurses, and working with partner organisations to provide services and support workers, we also provide direct help to families facing financial hardship when caring for a seriously ill child.
